Partner Spotlight: Vizzuality.

In today’s climate crisis, turning scientific knowledge into action demands more than just data, it requires compelling stories, clear communication, and the right tools to reach decision-makers. That’s where Vizzuality comes in.

Founded in 2009, Vizzuality is a mission-driven design and technology agency that creates bespoke, science-based data visualizations and digital tools. From mapping deforestation to tracking supply chain risks, the team works with world-changing organizations to drive positive environmental and social change. As the communications lead in the Multi-hazard Infrastructure Risk Assessment for Climate Adaptation (MIRACA) project, Vizzuality is helping ensure that MIRACA’s tools and insights reach the audiences who can put them to use.

Crafting communication for climate impact

“We believe that powerful communication is essential for climate action” says the Vizzuality team. In MIRACA, they lead the communications Work Package developing the project’s visual identity, website, and overall strategy to support partners in sharing research and results.

Their approach focuses on clarity, accessibility, and collaboration. From coordinating social media and content creation to facilitating storytelling across the consortium, Vizzuality is laying the groundwork for MIRACA’s impact to grow beyond the life of the project.

Bringing experience and creativity to the table

With over 15 years of experience designing science-based platforms like Global Forest Watch, Aqueduct, and Trase, Vizzuality is no stranger to high-impact climate communication. Their work blends sophisticated geospatial data visualization with intuitive interfaces and human-centered design. In MIRACA, this means creating the infrastructure to showcase not just data, but also the stories behind the data.

Their role also includes nurturing knowledge exchange among partners and the wider infrastructure risk management community: creating spaces for dialogue, co-creation, and shared learning. “Our job is to empower others: giving them the tools, strategies, and support they need to tell their own stories” they explain.

Turning insight into action

For Vizzuality, the most significant promise of MIRACA lies in its systems approach. The project goes beyond assessing isolated infrastructure assets by examining the broader system, how infrastructure is connected, where vulnerabilities lie, and how climate risks can ripple across entire networks.

By helping turn these insights into clear, accessible communications, Vizzuality is making sure that MIRACA’s results don’t stay locked in reports. Instead, they become actionable knowledge, guiding public authorities, infrastructure managers, and communities toward more resilient futures.

Looking ahead

Vizzuality’s work in MIRACA is part of a broader mission: to turn complexity into clarity, and information into change. This also drives their work on LandGriffon, a supply chain intelligence platform that helps companies manage environmental risks and build more transparent, sustainable operations.
